Adobe MAX 2022

I started working with and learning about design tools before the cloud existed. I had to purchase physical CDs to install Microsoft Word and Excel onto my laptop, let alone Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop. I was initially resistant to switch to the Adobe Creative Cloud, primarily because I wanted the option to pay for my tools once and then have ownership of them. I didn’t like the idea of getting locked into paying a subscription fee throughout my entire design career (this was definitely a broke, college-kid mindset). Now, I have a much greater appreciation for the benefits of the cloud subscription. One of which is always having access to the latest updates and releases. Technology constantly changes and Adobe continues to improve their tools to make our work as designers more streamlined.

Adobe MAX 2022 shared quite a few of those innovations.

Their “Sneaks” portion of the conference revealed many improvements brought about using AI technology.  This article by Rob Díaz gives a great overview of some of these features coming down the pipeline.

It’s hard to choose which one I’m most excited about! In my current work, I think Project Clever Composites, which uses AI to create believable composite photos in seconds, is the most useful. To create composites with the click of a button would make it so easy to show proof-of-concepts or create storyboards.

I can’t wait to get my hands on these updates. In general though, I look forward to seeing how technology like this continues to change the world of design.
