Fonts That People Actually Use

I stumbled across this fascinating study conducted by the folks over at Icons8. They scoured ProductHunt looking for the best startups and then analyzed the fonts used on those startups’ websites. Icons8 then created a simple interface to report out the results - the 50 most popular fonts on the web.

Here’s their key findings:

According to our fonts study, designers of the best startups don’t use the trendy, cool fonts (surprise). Instead, they rely on old good system fonts, some of the popular Google Fonts, and they misspell font names a lot.

I find it fascinating that, despite all the new, trendy fonts that appear, designers like to stick to the basics: those fonts that come standard on any computer (i.e. Arial) and Google fonts (i.e. Roboto).
